MOCA CLEVELAND IS FOR FAMILIES. MOCA Cleveland offers families a fun and friendly place to fuel imagination, cultivate creativity, and discover new ways to see, think, and share. Likewise, families bring a sense of warmth, energy, and enthusiasm to the museum. The Museum's changing exhibitions provide a continuous stream of new art and ideas that families can explore and consider together.
The ArtSquad, a cartoon trio, is the face and voice of family learning at MOCA Cleveland. Using their motto, “LOOK. THINK. SHARE.” The ArtSquad presents accessible, age-appropriate ways to learn about and enjoy the Museum's changing exhibitions in its new, iconic building. During the Museum's inaugural year, The ArtSquad will explore one of the three main ideas each season. The ArtSquad webpage has information and ideas to consider before, during, and after a trip to the Museum's galleries. The Hershey ArtSquad mobile carts provide hands-on opportunities to experiment and play inside the Museum. The full-scale characters will often walk around the Museum, meeting and greeting families, as well as appear in podcasts and videos. Visit the ArtSquad
page to learn more about the characters and their mission.
Each season, MOCA Cleveland creates family programs based on curiosity, problem solving, interaction, and play. The Museum provides families with resources and open-ended activities that encourage collaboration and interaction, from in-gallery games to hands-on art projects. Some programs like Tinker Space provide focused opportunities for kids to experiment with new materials and art-making practices. Other programs like Family Fun Days provide opportunities for the whole family to connect with one another and other creative families through the art on view.
