Artists are a key asset of Cuyahoga County. Join us in celebrating them at this summer mixer!

Liz Maugans is one of Cleveland’s strongest art advocates, having made an indelible impact on the region through her work as an artist, co-founder of Zygote Press, original publisher of the Collective Arts Network (CAN), and more recently as a civic and political lobbyist. Her new work for MOCA's exhibition Constant as the Sun, titled The Artist’s Trust: A Portrait of the Artist in Cuyahoga County (2017) features hundreds of self-portraits created by artists who live and work in this county. Gathered through an open-call process, the work provides a collective portrait of artists here in Cleveland and the surrounding area.

In the spirit of this community-building project, we invite all participating artists and the art-loving community-at-large to join Maugans at MOCA for a reception that celebrates the artistic spirit in Cuyahoga County. Music, light refreshments, a cash bar, and interactive art-making experiences will round out the event.
