FAMILY FUN DAY: CRATEtivity Stations

September 15, 2013 / 12:00pm4:00pm

Free and open to all

Join the MOCA ArtSquad for this family day extravaganza as they unveil their newest art-learning tools: the CRATEtivity stations! These three interactive “art carts” provide activities that teach kids and adults to LOOK for creative details, THINK of new ideas, and SHARE inspirations about the art on view. Experience additional hands-on art projects, special tours, and family-fun activities at this event that focus on artistic expressions in the current exhibitions Realization is Better than Anticipation and Everything All at Once

Also that afternoon, enjoy an afternoon gospel performance by Bonita Wagner Johnson, daughter of artist Reverend Albert Wagner, whose works are currently on view in the exhibition Realization is Better than Anticipation. Wagner Johnson is a spirited performer, with a powerful, captivating voice. She starting singing at the age of 3, and, at the age of 60, has just finished recording her first album at the Oberlin College Conservatory. This concert will be a preview of the forthcoming release, including original songs and renditions of classics. Before the performance, Wagner Johnson will talk with artist Johnny Coleman, Department Co-Chair and Professor of Studio Art and African American Studies at Oberlin College. Coleman was a long-time friend of Reverend Albert Wagner, and has worked closely with Wagner Johnson to produce her album.
