Sistah Sinema creates community and conversation around films that are created by, or portray, queer women of color. This program, MOCA’s second partnership with Sistah Sinema, will feature Reaching for the Moon, a film exploring the passionate relationship between American poet Elizabeth Bishop and Brazilian architect Lota de Macedo Soares. Directed by Rio De Janeiro native, Bruno Barreto, the film embodies mid-20th century style and vision. The screening will be followed by readings of original works from local poets around the theme The Erotic As Power.
