Using photography, printmaking, and installation, artist Amber N. Ford creates work that connects with, resonates among, and gives opportunities to people looking to make a corner of the world their own. A 2022 moCa artist-in-residence, Ford presented a series of audio collages and text installations in her 2023 moCa exhibition Someone, Somewhere, Something, which created space for mourning, catharsis, and healing following the pandemic. Father is a portrait from Ford’s 2017 series, By Force & By Choice that documented members of various immigrant and refugee communities in Cleveland, evoking our universal desire for home and belonging.

Amber N. Ford is a Cleveland based artist + photographer. Ford is interested in using imagery and collaborative storytelling to explore a deeper understanding of the variations of Black life. Through photography, printmaking and installation, she creates work that connects with, resonates among and gives opportunity to people looking to call some corner of the world their own. She holds a BFA in Photography from the Cleveland Institute of Art. Ford’s work has gained national notoriety appearing in publications such as The Washington Post, The Atlantic and New York Times. She has exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland, the Kent State University Museum, Transformer Station, SPACES Gallery, Youngstown State University and more. Ford was a recipient of the Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award in 2017, and selected as a 2019 Gordon Square Arts District Artist-In-Residence for her outstanding achievements in photography.
