First Saturdays are a fun way to get to know MOCA Cleveland. Community art projects on the ground floor provide opportunities to try out art practices explored in the galleries. Connect with the Museum through Target Talks, or go in depth with One Hour, One Work. Don’t miss the ArtSquad Plays Workroom, where families with kids 10 and under get creative with activities, books, and games created by MOCA’s ArtSquad characters, Beauregard and Cherry, who teach kids how to LOOK! THINK! and SHARE! First Saturdays are always free and have something for all ages to enjoy.

Winter Squash Reimagined
Presented by Kelli Hanley Potts of The Agrarian Collective
Sponsored by Edible Cleveland

Many home cooks fall into a linear path of cooking ingredients. Potatoes are fries, lettuce is salad and squash is mashed for Thanksgiving dinner. In this short workshop, Chef Kelli Hanley Potts will walk you through a single ingredient; the winter squash. From the varied shapes, sizes, textures and flavors to the endless possibilities in the kitchen. This workshop is designed to spark creativity in your own kitchen and inspire you to begin to look at your ingredients with an open mind and palate.

Contemporary art may move quickly, but there are great benefits to slowing down to interpret it. This adult educational program invites participants to intentionally reduce their “speed reading” and spend considerable time with a single work on view.

Each session, a museum educator will select a different work of art for sixty minutes of focused looking, conversation, consideration, interpretation, and understanding. Flex your art endurance and find out how rewarding extended time with an artwork can be. A different artwork is selected for each month and repeated on Wednesday and the Saturday date. Artworks are not announced in advance.
